I'm not sure the Out stream of the console in vbcorlib uses the stream utilized by cmd.exe.
When I run my executable from a command prompt the console code pops up a secondary console.
Is it possible to use the existing console window?

Hiya, Yes, it is possible. The problem you are experiencing is that VB6 doesn't support compiling your application as a Console application. There are many methods of doing the compiling as a Console application. I give the quick and dirty method here www.kellyethridge.com/vbcorlib/doc/Console.html. It shows how to change a normal compiled standard EXE into a console application so it will use the console from which it is run.

Ahh ok. So what about detecting the parent process and checking to see if that process has a console stream and just using that?

If that is indeed possible, I've never heard or read about it. If you could demonstrate it, I would be more than happy to implement it.
